BERLIN - Croatia defender Josip Simunic has joined Hoffenheim from Bundesliga rivals Hertha Berlin, both clubs said on Tuesday. German media reports said Hertha will receive a fee of 7 million euro for Simunic, 31, who has played at Hertha for 10 years. Hoffenheim said Simunic had signed a contract until June 30, 2012. "By signing Josip we've filled an important gap in our defence that opened up by the departure of several experienced players," said Hoffenheim coach Ralf Rangnick. Simunic has 71 caps for Croatia.
