Hull City's hopes of avoiding relegation from the Premier League were hit on Thursday when scans showed skipper Ian Ashbee has a serious knee injury. Ashbee, who was injured in Monday's 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa, is likely to miss the rest of the season after rupturing his posterior cruciate knee ligament. "Ian is going to be out for a number of weeks with the injury," Hull manager Phil Brown told the club's website. Hull, playing their first season in England's top flight, have slipped to 17th, just three points above Newcastle United and Middlesbrough. They host Stoke City on Saturday.
