Injured Robben out for a month

BERLIN - Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben's knee injury is not as bad as first feared but he will still need a minor operation and is expected to be out for three to four weeks, the Bundesliga club said on Thursday.

Bayern said Robben had been examined by a team doctor and a scan had revealed a minor problem with his right knee.

"It's not such a serious injury," coach Louis van Gaal was quoted as saying on the club's website.

"We're lucky because next week there's a break for the international matches."

The Dutch forward limped out of Wednesday's Champions League goalless draw against Juventus just before halftime, clutching his right knee. Van Gaal initially said that it could be a serious injury.

The 25-year-old former Chelsea player joined Bayern in August from Real Madrid and has scored two goals in six appearances, both on his debut against VfL Wolfsburg.

The Netherlands have already qualified for next year's World Cup. Their next match is a friendly away to Australia on October 10, which Robben will miss.
