Ipswich Town fined midfielder David Norris on Monday and warned him about his future conduct after he crossed his hands in a handcuff gesture to celebrate a goal against Blackpool at the weekend. A statement on the club's website said Norris had assured them his gesture had not been a show of support for former Plymouth Argyle goalkeeper Luke McCormick, jailed recently for drink driving after a car crash in which two boys died. "He was found to have been insensitive to the possible interpretation that such a gesture may create," said the Championship team. The statement added Norris "deeply regretted" his action and had written a personal letter to the mother of the two boys killed in the crash in June 2007. McCormick was driving back from former Plymouth team mate Norris's wedding when the accident occurred. The Football Association said on Monday they were waiting for an explanation from Norris.
