SKOPJE - Mirsad Jonuz has been appointed coach of Macedonia for the rest of their World Cup qualifying campaign. "Jonuz was the only candidate who accepted a short-term appointment without demanding to stay on beyond the qualifiers," Macedonian Football Federation president Haralampie Hadziristeski told Reuters on Saturday. Slovenian Srecko Katanec quit as coach last month after a 4-0 World Cup defeat by Netherlands. "I will not make big changes to the squad ... but there will be a few because I believe we are capable of getting better results," said Jonuz who has been in charge of Macedonia's under-21 team since 2002. Macedonia are fourth in World Cup Group Nine with three points from four matches, 12 behind leaders Netherlands. Their next two qualifiers are at home to Norway and Iceland next month.
