Laporta calls for Guardiola decision
Guardiola, who turns 39 on Monday, has led the La Liga club to an unprecedented six titles since taking over at the start of last season.
His refusal to commit to a contract extension has led to speculation he may move to a rival club or take time out from coaching.
"It would be good to know around Easter time who will be the coach next season," Laporta, whose final term as president ends later this year, said on Barca's website.
"It's the best thing for the institution because it would send a message of calm," he added.
"It's a convenient point, because it would give us time to find an alternative, even though that is not something I am considering."
