MILAN - AC Milan's rookie manager Leonardo has secured his UEFA A second category coaching badge, the Serie A side said in a statement on Wednesday. The Italian soccer federation had allowed the 39-year-old Brazilian to succeed Carlo Ancelotti despite not having the necessary qualifications because he was a top level player who had featured in the 1994 World Cup finals. Leonardo, who faces a tough baptism after the departure of playmaker Kaka to Real Madrid, decided to study for the badge anyway and has been sat in lecture theatres for much of the last month.
