Mendoza back in Honduras squad after ban

TEGUCIGALPA - Defender Sergio Mendoza, who completed a one-year doping suspension last month, was recalled by Honduras on Friday for a five-day World Cup training camp this month.

"Sergio is an important player for us, who has recovered his form and has been playing well for his club," coach Reinaldo Rueda told the Honduran federation's website.

"We lost him for a long time but I decided to take him into account."

Colombian Rueda named a squad of 17 home-based for the March 21-25 camp in the Honduran city of San Pedro Sula.

Honduras, who are in Group H with Spain, Chile and Switzerland at the June 11-July 11 finals in South Africa, have scheduled warm-ups against Azerbaijan on May 27, Belarus on June 2 and Romania three days later.
