Mosquera ban reduced in Mexico

MEXICO CITY - America's Colombian defender Aquivaldo Mosquera has had a three-match ban for a punching incident reduced to one on appeal, the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) said on Wednesday.

Mosquera punched Argentine defender Mauricio Romero in the face at a corner during America's 2-1 home defeat by Morelia in the Apertura championship on Sunday.

The federation's disciplinary committee viewed match footage that showed Romero had pushed Mosquera in the face provoking the Colombian's reaction and changed its verdict.

Argentine-born forward Matias Vuoso of Santos Laguna was suspended for one match for simulating a penalty from which his team beat Indios Juarez 1-0, the FMF added.
