LISBON - A goal from Brazilian striker Liedson gave nine-man Sporting a 1-0 win at Naval which lifted them to third spot in the Portuguese Premier League on Saturday. Unheralded Leixoes continued their impressive form with a 2-1 victory at Rio Ave on Friday. They top the standings with 22 points from nine matches, four ahead of Benfica who visit Academica on Sunday. Sporting are third on 16 and Maritimo who drew 0-0 with Braga are on 15 points. Sporting grabbed the three points when Liedson finished of a swift break with well placed shot inside the box on 15 minutes The home side squandered a golden chance to equalise 10 minutes later when Sporting's keeper Rui Patricio saved Lazaroni's penalty after defender Caneira handled. Sporting ended the match with nine players when striker Derlei was sent off for a tackle on defender Alex Hauw after 55 minutes and Caneira picked up a second yellow card 12 minutes later.
