ATLETICO MADRID 2 REAL BETIS 0 Maniche's pass over the top in the 20th minute put Maxi Rodriguez clear and the Argentina midfielder scored at the near post to put Atletico in front. Betis pressed hard and were threatening an equaliser when Diego Forlan fed Argentina striker Sergio Aguero to seal the points nine minutes from time, extending the home side's unbeaten run to 14 in all competitions. GETAFE 4 REAL MALLORCA 1 Getafe's Nigeria striker Ikechukwu Uche won a dubious penalty which Cosmin Contra converted after 15 minutes, but there was no doubt about Uche's goal in the 31st when he broke clear to finish with a cool lob. Mallorca pulled one back two minutes later through Aritz Aduriz from close range, but late goals from Manu del Moral and Jaime Gavilan made sure of Mallorca's third consecutive defeat. MALAGA 2 NUMANCIA 0 Malaga dominated but failed to breach the visitors' defence until they were awarded a questionable penalty in the 85th minute, which Apono put away. French striker Nabil Baha broke from the halfway line to make sure of the points at the end. REAL VALLADOLID 3 DEPORTIVO CORUNA 0 Jonathan Sesma tipped in Pedro Leon's cross after 15 minutes and Pedro Lopez caught out visiting keeper Daniel Aranzubia from 40 metres with a spectacular looping shot in the 25th. After the break, Valladolid's Fabian Canobbio had a shot pushed onto the post but soon after Leon made it 3-0, dribbling down the right wing and firing into the far top corner to crown an impressive display. RECREATIVO HUELVA 1 OSASUNA 0 Osasuna had a string of chances as they chased their first away win and midway through the second half striker Dady rounded the keeper only to shoot wide of the empty goal. Recre earned their first home win six minutes from time when Adrian Colunga raced through to shoot low into the corner. ALMERIA 1 RACING SANTANDER 1 Racing took the lead after 33 minutes when Argentine defender Ezequiel Garay drilled a shot in the top corner from 25 metres. Almeria's Peruvian defender Santiago Acasiete smashed a superb volley just under the bar to level in the 62nd, easing the pressure on his coach Gonzalo Arconada. Racing had Mehdi Lacen sent off near the end. SEVILLA 1 VILLARREAL 0 Sevilla took the game to a cautious Villarreal and Brazilian forward Renato broke the deadlock just before halftime, guiding a flick on from Frederic Kanoute past Diego Lopez. Villarreal had striker Joseba Llorente sent off in the 53rd minute for his second yellow card, and Lopez made a string of saves to prevent Sevilla extending their lead. Played Saturday: VALENCIA 2 ESPANYOL 1 Roman Martinez put Espanyol in front when his long-range shot deflected off David Albelda and flew past Valencia goalkeeper Renan before team mate Francisco Rufete was harshly dismissed for a second handball. Valencia equalised in the 58th minute when Raul Albiol volleyed home from a corner. Winger Vicente came off the bench to grab the winner by finishing off a flowing move nine minute from time. BARCELONA 2 REAL MADRID 0 Real held leaders Barcelona at bay until the 83rd minute when Samuel Eto'o, who earlier had a penalty saved by Iker Casillas, bundled the ball in after Carles Puyol headed Xavi's corner into his path. Forward Lionel Messi sealed the win in added time, lifting the ball over Casillas after Thierry Henry found the Argentine international in space on the left.
