Remy & Luyindula called up by France

PARIS - Strikers Loic Remy and Peguy Luyindula (pictured) have been called up to the France squad to face Lithuania in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday after an injury to Jimmy Briand, the national federation has said.

Nice's Remy and Paris St Germain's Luyindula are expected to join the French training camp on Thursday.

Stade Rennes striker Briand suffered a serious knee injury in a clash with goalkeeper Cedric Carasso during training on Wednesday.

Remy has never been called up while Luyindula earned four caps between February and October 2004.

France, third in Group Seven, travel to Kaunas on Saturday and host Lithuania on Wednesday at the Stade de France.
