Ronaldo to undergo Portugal tests

OBIDOS - Cristiano Ronaldo will travel to Portugal on Tuesday to be examined by national team doctors, his club Real Madrid said.

"Cristiano Ronaldo will travel to Portugal in the next few hours to put himself at the disposal of the medical services of the Portuguese federation," the Spanish club said in a statement on its website.

"Ronaldo picked up an ankle injury in late September which was aggravated in Portugal's 3-0 win over Hungary 10 days later.

He has not played since then, but Portugal coach Carlos Queiroz has included the winger in the squad for the World Cup playoff against Bosnia in Lisbon on November 14 and Zenica four days later, despite opposition from Real Madrid.

The club said last Friday that their world record signing needs two more weeks of treatment. Director general Jorge Valdano says playing him now would be a serious mistake.
