Russian fans frenzy for crucial Germany clash

MOSCOW - Football fever has swept Russia ahead of next month's decisive World Cup European Group Four qualifier against Germany in Moscow.

The Russian FA said on Friday that it had received more than 100,000 ticket requests for the October 10 match at the 84,000-seat Luzhniki Olympic stadium from fans all over the country.

FA general director Alexei Sorokin said they would use a lottery to determine the lucky fans and deter ticket touts. Germany lead the group, a point ahead of Russia with two games remaining.
