BERLIN - Schalke 04 crushed Energie Cottbus 4-0 on Friday to move up to sixth in the Bundesliga and take their recent good run to three consecutive wins. They stunned the visitors with a Christian Pander long range effort after just four minutes before Halil Altintop doubled the lead with a low drive in the 23rd. Schalke missed scores of chances before grabbing a deserved third goal on the hour through Jermaine Jones after some quick passing between Kevin Kuranyi and Altintop. Kuranyi completed the rout two minutes from time with his 12th league goal. The loss leaves Cottbus in the relegation zone. League leaders VfL Wolfsburg are at home to Bayer Leverkusen and second-placed Bayern Munich, three points behind, travel to Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday.
