Senderos the key to Chamakh capture?

Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos could prove to be the key to the Gunners finally landing Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh this summer, according to reports in France. The Gunners have recently been linked with a £7 million bid for the Moroccan international as a possible replacement for Emmanuel Adebayor, with the towering Togolese target-man expected to join Manchester City. Arsenal's arch rivals Tottenham Hotspur, as well as Sunderland and Fulham have also been tipped to land the forward - who has scored 15 goals for his country - during the close season. But despite the 25-year-old, who netted 13 times in Ligue 1 last season, confirming that he is wanted by Premier League clubs, suggestions that he is set to join the Gunners have been rubbished by Bordeaux chairman Jean-Louid Triaud, who told France Football: "Arsene Wenger hasn't called me to say he is interested in signing Chamakh. "Who has talked about Chamakh going to Arsenal? Journalists. These are just stories without foundation." However, French daily Le Parisien has claimed that les Girondins could be swayed by the possibility of signing Swiss international Philippe Senderos in part-exchange for Chamakh. The Ligue 1 champions had previously been tipped to sign French international Mikael Silvestre as part of a deal for the striker. But instead it may be 24-year-old Senderos, who spent last season on loan at AC Milan, who heads across the English Channel.
