Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has confirmed that the Black Cats are interested in signing Marseille midfielder Lorik Cana. The 25-year-old Albanian international has made more than 100 league appearances for the French outfit - scoring 17 times - since arriving from Paris Saint-Germain in 2005. And the Yugoslavia-born midfielder, who has won 31 caps for Albania, was believed to be attracting interest from Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton and Manchester City during the close-season. Spurs were thought to be leading the chase as manager Harry Redknapp sought a replacement for midfield Didier Zokora, who has departed White Hart Lane for Sevilla. And although Cana had at one point seemed set to be leaving Ligue 1 for the Bundesliga with Hamburg, Black Cats' boss Bruce has revealed he would like to bring the enforcer to the Stadium of Light. "He is captain of Marseille and captain of his country, he's right up our street," he told the Sunderland Echo. "I hate talking about other club's players until things are all signed and delivered, you just have to look at what happened with the Peter Crouch deal. "So we'll just sit down with the lad and see how things progress." NEWS: Cana hints at Everton switch NEWS: Cana allowed to leave Marseille
