Supporter scales crane seeking Real cash

MADRID - A Spanish businessman climbed up a crane at Real Madrid's training ground on Friday to demand the club pay the 110,000 euros he claims they owe him.

Wearing a luminous yellow jacket, Carlos Mateo unfurled a banner reading: "Real Madrid owes me 110,020.50 euros. Pay up!"

A spokesman for Madrid police said Mateo was persuaded to come down after around three hours.

In a statement on their website, Real said they had no contractual relationship with Mateo and the money was owed to him by a building firm that had been in bankruptcy proceedings since last week.

"Nonetheless, Real Madrid has agreed to mediate as far as it can between the two parties," the club added.
