Szczesny set for loan spell

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has revealed he is set to leave the Emirates Stadium for a Football League club next season on loan. The Polish youth international has yet to make his first-team debut for Arsene Wenger's side, but has featured for the Gunners' U18 and reserve sides and was named on the substitiutes' bench on the final day of last season against Stoke City.

And the 19-year-old is now aiming to emulate fellow goalkeeping starlet Vito Mannone, who spent a loan spell at Barnsley during the 2006/07 campaign before making his senior bow for Arsenal in that same game against Stoke in May.

“I have received five loan bids,” he told the Polish press.

“Two have come from Championship teams and three teams from League One.”

Bristol City and Brighton are just two of the clubs being linked with a loan move for the stopper.
