New Manchester City signing Kolo Toure has urged his former club Arsenal to re-sign Patrick Vieira this summer. The Gunners' arch-rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, have been strongly linked with a move for the 33-year-old Frenchman, who made more than 250 league appearances and won three Premier League titles and four FA Cups during his time at Highbury. However, speaking in Beijing as Spurs prepared to face West Ham United in the Barclays Asia Trophy, Spurs boss Harry Redknapp admitted that talks had stalled over a potential deal. And the former Portsmouth manager admitted he was surprised to hear of Arsene Wenger's apparent interest in bringing the central midfielder back to North London, saying: “That is surprising but I had heard nothing about it. He belonged to Arsenal, he was fantastic there so if an opportunity to go back there came along then I'm sure he would take it." And former Arsenal central defender Toure, who became the latest high profile name to join Mark Hughes' revolution at Eastlands, believes his former employers should re-sign the player they, arguably, have still yet to replace since his departure to Juventus in 2005. “He has been a great player and if he wants to come back and help the team, that will be good for them,” he said.
