Trio to go toe-to-toe for Mongongu

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly set to go head-to-head for the signature of highly-rated Monaco defender Cedric Mongongu.

The 6ft 2in Congolese international has caught the eye at the Stade Louis II, making 27 Ligue 1 appearances since graduating from the club's reserve team, as well as winning six caps for Democratic Republic of Congo.

The 20-year-old's stellar performances are also believed to have attracted the interest of Italian duo AC Milan and Juventus.

However, the player's representitive, Christophe Mongai, has revealed that a move to the Premier League would appeal more than a switch to Serie A.

“Milan have followed him for some time and have often sent scouts to observe him," he told tuttomercatoweb.

“The player is also wanted in England and the Premier League is a more important stage than the Italian Championship.”
