Uruguay captain to miss Swiss friendly

MONTEVIDEO - Injured captain Diego Lugano of Fenerbahce is out of the Uruguay squad for a World Cup warm-up against Switzerland next week, the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) said on Wednesday.

Defender Martin Caceres of Juventus is also missing from the 21-man squad coach Oscar Tabarez named provisionally last week for the friendly in St Gallen next Wednesday.

Midfielders Ignacio Gonzalez of Greek side Levadiakos and Penarol's Egidio Arevalo Rios were drafted in.

The AUF also announced a final warm-up at home to Israel on May 26.

Tabarez, whose team face hosts South Africa, France and Mexico in Group A of the June 11-July 11 finals, will name his 23-man World Cup squad on June 1 and they will leave for South Africa on June 4.
