Utrecht end Twente winning streak

ROTTERDAM - Twente Enschede barely resembled a team on top of the Dutch league after they ended up with 10 men during a goalless draw with Utrecht on Sunday.

In their first match after the winter break, Steve McClaren's side dropped their first points after 12 successive wins and had Wout Brama sent off following a straight red card in injury time.

Twente remain on top with 48 points after 18 matches, three ahead of PSV Eindhoven.

Third placed Ajax Amsterdam failed to reduce the nine-point gap after being held to a 1-1 draw at NAC Breda.

Ellery Cairo struck a rebound after 19 minutes to put Breda ahead but eight minutes before the interval Rasmus Lindgren headed home the equaliser.

Lowly NEC Nijmegen, on 16 points, climbed two spots after they came from behind to beat neighbours Vitesse Arnhem 2-1.
