Van Gaal linked with Belgium job

AMSTERDAM - The Belgian Football association has talked to AZ Alkmaar coach Louis van Gaal about its vacant national coach post, NOS-TV said on its website on Friday.

Van Gaal, who won the Dutch title last weekend with Alkmaar, is a candidate to replace Rene Vandereycken, who was sacked after two losses to Bosnia Herzegovina three weeks ago.

Van Gaal's contract with Alkmaar runs till 2010 but it contains a clause that he can resign if he becomes the coach of the Netherlands, Germany, England, Spain or Argentina.
