As first reported by FourFourTwo, the prolific striker will not turn out for the White Swans next season.

“I have decided to leave Albirex Singapore for Kumamoto, Japan,” said the 23-year-old. “Singapore was my first experience playing overseas. Thanks to the fans and supporters, I overcome my initial fear and had a wonderful year to remember.”

“I will continue to give my all and hope to do well for my new Club. Thank you very much for your support.”

Sano struck 31 times in all competitions and pipped Home United’s Stipe Plazibat to the S.League Golden Boot with 26 goals.

The Albirex no. 9 was prolific for the White Swans this term, managing a five-goal haul in their 8-0 thumping of the Garena Young Lions while hitting four past nine-time S.League champions Warriors FC in a 5-1 win.

Albirex had announced the transfer of skipper Shuto Inaba on Wednesday, with the midfielder joining J-League 3 side Kataller Toyoma.
