Euro 2016: FFT's Singapore Bulletin, Day 4

The World Champions got their campaign underway on a solid note, while there were also wins for Croatia and Poland overnight, including another contender for goal of the tournament...

We are part of The Trust Project What is it?

A dose of Modric Magic

On paper a Group D clash between Turkey and Croatia at this year's Euros, nations ranked 18th and 27th in the world respectively, didn't have anywhere near the same lustre to it as some of the other first-round fixtures.

But this was a quick lesson in ensuring you always have an eye on the action, as Luka Modric lit up the Parc de Prince on Sunday night.

With seemingly little danger as Turkey cleared the ball, Real Madrid midfielder Modric set himself and unleashed a brilliant volley that dipped and bounced its way into the bottom left corner.

Poland's sweet seven

Next up Poland took on Northern Ireland as things got underway in Group C. The Northern Irish carried an impressive 12-game unbeaten streak into this match, while Poland had never won a Euro match in six previous attempts.

But it proved to be lucky No.7 as Arkadiusz Milik's second-half strike was enough for a 1-0 win and helped overcome a quiet outing from superstar Robert Lewandowski.

Lewy was surprisingly quiet, but Poland still got the win

The might of Germany then waltzed onto the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Lille to take on Ukraine.

While the World Champions concede they weren't quite at their best, they still had few troubles securing a 2-0 victory.
