"We are signing him. He has been here on trials and I think he will be a useful player for us. He will bring depth and balance to the squad," PKNS coach K. Rajagopal told FourFourTwo.

There were also rumours of interest from Selangor previously, but a trial with the Red Ants was enough to convince Rajagopal to get the 25-year-old on board.

Faris had impressed during his week-long trial with Melaka United, scoring two goals in a friendly win over UKM FC. However, the club opted to sign fellow Singapore international Shahdan Sulaiman to fill the ASEAN import slot.

There were also rumours of interest from Selangor previously, but a trial with the Red Ants was enough to convince Rajagopal to get the 25-year-old on board.

"It's not just because of his experience with LionsXII in the MSL," said Rajagopal. "I have seen him play for Singapore too. We know of his ability."

Faris, who will be PKNS' first import signing, had a standout season in 2017, scoring 21 goals and notching 21 assists for S.League side Home United.
