FFT Player Ratings: Singapore 1 Cambodia 0

Yasir Hanapi scored the match-winner for Singapore in their final Suzuki Cup tune-up game, but who else from the Lions impressed? Kenneth Tan dishes out the ratings…

Hassan Sunny 7

As usual, Hassan was his immaculate self in goal – dominating the area with his presence and decisive in cutting out crosses. Did not have many saves to make, but made a superb one to tip over Chan Vathanaka’s goal-bound free kick.

Juma’at Jantan 6

With the Cambodians attacking mostly down his flank in the first half, Juma’at had to curb his attacking instincts from right back and adopt a safety-first approach. Was subbed off for Faritz Hameed at half time.

Baihakki Khaizan 4

One of the most experienced centre-backs in the team, Baihakki put in an erratic display – misplacing a few passes that put his side into immediate danger – before being rightfully hauled off on 23 minutes. Sundram later explained that he was unwell before the match but that may not explain the whole picture.

Daniel Bennett 7

Are we running out of superlatives for this lad? Bennett gave the Lions some much-needed assurance at the back, snuffing out the Cambodian attackers with a number of crucial interceptions. Hardly put a foot wrong all night.

Shakir Hamzah 7

The left-back did well at both ends of the pitch – most notably cutting out a dangerous left-wing cross to prevent Prak Mony Udom from converting in the first half, before producing a teasing cross in the second that led to Yasir’s match-winner. A pity that he limped off right at the end…

Izzdin Shafiq 6

Was his usual industrious self in midfield, getting in the thick of things before spreading the ball out wide. Not consistent enough in his passing and faded out in the second half.

Hariss Harun 6

Hardly did anything wrong though he was not the most effective either. Did put in a few crunching tackles and provided a decent defensive shield, but did not impose himself on the game enough. More will still be expected from the midfield hard man at the Suzuki Cup.

Faris Ramli 6

Not the most effective of outings from arguably Singapore’s top winger at the moment. Produced a stunning volley that unfortunately came back off the cross bar, but that was about it. Could have done with more take-ons and crosses.

Hafiz Sujad 5

Usually an effective performer, Hafiz put up an uncharacteristically below-par display. Tried his best to get past his marker and put in crosses, but nothing he did came off. Subbed off at half time for Shahdan Sulaiman.
