MSL Transfer Update – The dealing is nearly done as kick-off looms

It’s just days to the start of the 2017 Malaysia Super League and most teams appear set after completing their transfer activities, but three players at three-time defending champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) are still uncertain of their roles.

Felda United

IN: Ilham Amirullah (T-Team), Fakrul Aiman Sidid (PDRM), Wan Amirul Afiq Wan Abdul Rahman (Malacca), Wan Zack Haikal Wan Nor (Kelantan), Norshahrul Idlan Talaha (Terengganu), Fazrul Hazli Kadri (Perak), Farid Ramli (PKNS), Stuart Wark (Sabah), Lucas Cano (Argentinos), Gaston Cellerino (Bolivar)

OUT: Ferris Danial, Adib Aizuddin Abdul Latif, Firdaus Faudzi, Abdul Shukor Jusoh (all Terengganu), Christie Jayaseelan, Ahmad Syamim Yahyah (both Pahang)  Francis Forkey Doe (released), S. Sivanesan (PKNS), Bobby Gonzalez (PKNS). Idris Ahmad (Perak).

Having confirmed the signing of Argentine forwards Lucas Cano and Gaston Cellerino, the Fighters still have their fourth and final import spot available.

Australian Brent Griffiths, who played for Penang last year, started in the heart of defence in a friendly against Penang on Sunday but the club is yet to confirm if he has signed on.

Felda must sign an Asian player as their fourth import because of the one Asian import rule. Felda’s other import, Zah Rahan Krangar, is from Liberia.

Griffiths' immediate plans are unclear

Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT)

IN: Haziq Nadzli (PDRM), Safawi Rasid (T-Team), Nazmi Faiz Mansor (Selangor), Syahrul Azwari, Brian Ferreira (Independiente), Gonzalo Cabrera (Al-Faisaly), R. Gopinathan (Selangor), Ahmad Hazwan Bakri (Selangor), Darren Lok (JDT II), Jeronimo Barrales (Sivasspor)

OUT: Amri Yahyah (Malacca), Nazrin Nawi, Jasazrin Jamaluddin (both Perak), Akram Mahinan (Kedah), Asraruddin Putra Omar (released), Jorge Pereyra Diaz (JDT), Hariss Harun (to be sent on loan), Azinee Taib, S. Sasikumar(both JDT II), Juan Martin Lucero (Xolos de Tijuana)

Having completed their business at the start of January, there are no new transfer developments at JDT.

But there was a surprise in the Southern Tigers’ friendly against Air Force Central in Thailand last week when Hariss Harun and Nazmi Faiz Mansor, both of whom were said to be on their way out on loan, started.

JDT II’s Gabriel Guerra also started that match, leaving question marks over the club’s intentions with him in 2017.
