Singapore Player Ratings: Lions put bodies on the line for point

The Lions were expected to park the bus but they gave Bahrain a few scares in the first half. Only injuries and fatigue led to the Lions sitting deeper as full-time loomed but they still earned a precious point. Here is FourFourTwo's rating of the players...

Hassan Sunny: 7

Hassan was untroubled for long spells of the game but excellent when called upon, pushing away a shot from Ahmed and saving at the feet of Saad.

Shakir Hamzah: 6.5

His excellent cutback picked out Nizam for Singapore's best chance. Was uncompromising in his tackles throughout.

Daniel Bennett: 7

He is 39 years old but you could hardly tell it. Marshalled the backline well throughout and made several telling clearances to stop the Bahrain forwards from getting in behind.

Irfan Fandi: 6.5

Followed up his promising performance against Afghanistan with another good showing. Unlucky to be booked early on but did well against the aerial threat of Saad.

Faritz Hameed: 6

Vital goal-line clearance prevented a certain goal. Defensively caught out on several occasions though and he had to be bailed out by Hariss.

Juma'at Jantan: 5.5

Not the best of games for Juma'at, who was played out of position as a left midfielder.

A right-back by trade at Home United, Juma'at offered little as an attacking threat. Was also exposed for pace on several occasions in the second half.

Izzdin Shafiq: 6.5

Tidy play in the middle of the park from the Home United midfielder and along with Hariss, shielded his center-backs well.

Was still busting a gut in the closing stages of the game to get forward.

Hariss Harun: 6.5

A typically industrious and gritty performance from the skipper.

Had to give away several niggly fouls for the cause, but an overall solid performance alongside Izzdin.

Yasir Hanapi: 7

While let down by several poor set-piece deliveries, Yasir provided great energy in the middle of the park, with a number of crunching challenges.

His runs provided a key outlet for the Lions.

Safuwan Baharudin: 6.5

The versatile Safuwan found himself on an unfamiliar right wing role but acquitted himself with a decent performance.

Linked up tidily with Yasir and won several aerial balls as expected.

Khairul Amri N/A

The veteran striker toiled an uphill battle and saw little of the ball for the nine minutes he was on the pitch.

Was stretched off with Nizam on in his place.
