Ten quality S.League free agents to consider

The mid-season transfer window opens on May 16 and clubs might be in the market to bolster their squads. FourFourTwo listed out some quality options whom are without a club...

With a number of prominent free agents still on the market, FourFourTwo’s Nigel Chin takes a look at 10 players who could be signed when the window opens.

Firdaus Idros

When S.League clubs released their squad lists at the start of the season, a major surprise was the absence of Firdaus Idros name at any of the seven local clubs.

The attacking forward has appeared four times for Singapore on the international stage and has made over 100 S.League appearances with Young Lions, Home United, Tanjong Pagar and Tampines Rovers.

With four assists in 24 appearances last season, Firdaus is a proven performer.

For clubs looking to boost their fortunes or add more firepower (we are looking at you, Warriors FC and Balestier Khalsa), they can hardly go wrong with Firdaus.

Faizal Amir

Faizal Amir was released at the end of last year after spending six years with Hougang United. In those six years, he was a consistent player, churning out performances week-in week-out.

Capable of filling in midfield or at full-back, where he was used for the majority of last season, Faizal never fails to bring his full effort onto the pitch.

Still, one major worry is his lack of discipline, given that he was sent off twice in 18 appearances last year. But that’s not to say that he can’t do a job when called upon.
