The Argentine international, who scored 53 goals in his last two seasons in the Serie A, was left out of his country’s World Cup squad.

25-year-old Icardi, whose release clause stands at £98 million, was reportedly negotiating with Los Blancos over a move last winter.

Despite signing a new five-year deal last summer, 27-year-old Trippier is expected to move on from the London club.

Barca return with third Willian bid

Barcelona are not taking no for an answer as they return with a third bid of over £55 million for Chelsea winger Willian states Sky Sports.

This is the second bid in two weeks for the Brazilian international, who was virtually unplayable at times for his country at the World Cup.

29-year-old Willian, who found the net 13 times for the Blues last season, is contracted till 2020.
