And as his playing career enters its twilight years, the defender has similarly thrown caution to the wind before beginning the next phase of life.
Just last month, the Singapore defender opened a Nasi Padang stall at the new Yishun Park hawker centre.
“I did not really plan to open this stall. It came out of a sudden," Juma'at told FourFourTwo. "My partners and I decided to take the risk although we don’t know much about the food business.”
Known as "Crazy Horse" for his galloping runs down the flank, the defender has time left on his contract with the Protectors, but acknowledges the need to think ahead.
“I still have another year with Home United. I will play for as long as my service is needed,” he said. “My commitment is still with football. This (stall) is an after football type of thing. I only come here after football training and on my off days.”
Currently, the stall has four helpers who prepare traditional Malay dishes ranging from Mee Rebus to Lontong and Nasi Ayam Goreng.

“Nasi Padang is just like family dining," explained Jumaat. "My partner called me to go down for a talk and then we agreed to commit to opening this stall.”
While going into a field without experience was always going to be difficult, Juma’at has been enjoying the journey so far.
“It has been a roller coaster ride. There have been a lot of challenges – like having no knowledge. We also had to learn how to utilise the manpower and segregate jobs. It is fun but the painful type of fun!”
