AFC Cup: Calamitous Tampines spanked by Ceres

Tampines Rovers suffered a devastating 5-0 defeat in Philippines as Ceres-Negros ran riot at Panaad Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The match was all but over in the first half, as the hosts took a commanding 3-0 lead into the break.

It took Ceres merely seconds to open the scoring, with Iain Ramsay volleying home from outside the box, although goalkeeper Izwan Mahbud got a touch to the ball.

They then scored a second in the 24th minute, with Izwan failing to clear his lines after racing out of the box and Bienvenido Maranon capitalised on the mistake by slotting into an empty net.

It became 3-0 on 38 minutes, with Manuel Ott bamboozling the entire Tampines defence before slamming home from distance.

Tampines tried to rectify matters by bringing off Mustafic Fahrudin before the break, but it failed to inspire much changes in the second half.

The Stags nearly scored twice but were thwarted by Roland Muller each time before things got from bad to worse as Maranon scored his brace and made it 4-0 in the 66th minute.

The rout was finally completed in the 72nd minute, as the whole Tampines defence went to sleep and allowed an unmarked Fernando Rodriguez to slot in Jeffrey Christiaens’ cross.
