Ardiles urges fans to pack the stadium

Tottenham Hotspur legend Osvaldo Ardiles hopes to see the Shah Alam Stadium filled to the brim in Wednesday’s friendly match.

Tottenham will take on Malaysia XI on Wednesday at the Shah Alam Stadium, which Ardiles couldn’t be more excited about.

“I hope that there will be a huge turnout [for the match],” said Ardiles, who played in the exhibition match the last time the English side were in the country in 1979.

“It will be a good opportunity for us to get in touch with our fan base in Malaysia, and because our team are young and exciting, I think the fans will have a great night and enjoy themselves.”

The Argentine also brushed aside any concern that the Spurs players, having just ended their season on Sunday, might be affected by lethargy.

“[On the contrary] I think it will be good for the team to travel together.

“The season is over and the pressure is off, so they will get to enjoy themselves in Malaysia.

“They will get to bond with each other as well, so I think the players will like it.”
