Fans win big with Ballr at the official launch

Ballr, a new smartphone gaming platform, was launched officially on Saturday evening at the new Café Football Singapore located at Woodleigh Park as Manchester United legends Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs served as guest of honours.

Ballr is a free app based on live football that allows you to pick your team in real-time as you watch the match, winning points based on your players’ involvement in the game, and founder and CEO Sam Jones is optimistic of the app’s success, especially in football-crazy Asia.

Football has changed over the years and right now, people want to feel engaged while watching their weekly dose of football action and I think the app does exactly that

He said: “Football has changed over the years and right now, people want to feel engaged while watching their weekly dose of football action and I think the app does exactly that in the sense that it keeps you involved during the whole match.

“Football is huge in Asia and we at Ballr believe that the app has all the ingredients needed to ensure we captivate and engage these fans.”

The app is funded by Asian investors and has been a top draw since its release, due to the remarkable prizes on offer for the top dogs.

One such beneficiary is consultant Jay Lim, who was one of the top winners during the recent Manchester United vs West Bromwich Albion tie and his prize was being in the same room with Giggs and Neville during the launch party.

“The app is definitely amazing in the sense that it makes me feel like a manager during the match because I get to pick the players and also it kept me engaged throughout the 90 minutes,” said Lim.

“Don’t get me started on the prizes.

“I mean, to actually be so close to Giggs and Neville is not something I can describe. It’s been an amazing night.”

On Saturday evening, the top winner from the Stoke City and Liverpool tie walked away with a prize that included tickets to watch a Manchester United match plus a stay at Hotel Football in Manchester.
