Figueroa likely to leave JDT

Argentine forward Luciano Figueroa could be following Jorge Pereyra Diaz out of Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) following the club's cryptic message on Facebook.

On Wednesday, the Southern Tigers posted a picture on the social media platform hinting an arrival of a new foreign striker.

Without revealing the player's identity or appearance, the post read: "Johor Darul Ta'zim will announce the signing of a new import striker on March 25th, 2015.

"The 24-year-old player will be officially unveiled to fulfill JDT's foreign player quota and strengthen Bojan Hodak's squad."

As Patricio Rodriguez has already arrived in Malaysia and been earmarked as a straight replacement for Diaz, the mystery signing means that Figueroa, Hariss Harun, or Marcos Antonio will be sacrificed in the April transfer window to free up a space in the foreign player quota.

Of the trio, Figueroa looks the most likely to be the sacrificial lamb due to his ongoing injury, despite playing a key role in the team's league title success last season.

Without the Argentine's services, JDT have been struggling in the goal department, most recently losing 2-0 to Kitchee in Hong Kong.

Therefore, they may opt to replace Figueroa with a fit striker to maintain their challenges on all fronts.
