Home relieve Aw of duties, reassigns him as youth coach

The Protectors have a new head coach after Philippe Aw was redesignated as Head of Youth Development and Performance Management.

Philippe Aw will no longer lead Home United in the S.League, as he was relieved of his duties mid-way through his second season in charge.

The former Prime League coach was appointed in 2015 and most recently led the Protectors to the League Cup semi-final. He also led Home to the Singapore Cup final in his first season in charge.

The announcement was made by the club on Saturday afternoon that as of July 31st, Aw would be redesignated as the Head of Youth Development and Performance Management.

Coach Aidil Sharin will take over first-team duties, with Robin Chitrakar alongside him as assistant coach.

Home believes that this reshuffle in the technical team is for the club’s good.

“Home United Football Club (HUFC) believes that Philippe's appointment within the youth set-up will ensure that this crucial area of the club is led by an individual who is well-versed in youth development and has a good track record at the level, which can only augur well for the club.,” the club said.

“We believe that the reorganisation of the technical set-up of HUFC will be for the betterment of the club, as it will ensure that both our youth development and senior set-ups are led by staff committed to deliver success for Home United at all fronts.”

During Aw’s stint, the Protectors finished in sixth place last year and are currently fourth in the league.

He has helped players like Azhar Sairudin and Abdil Qaiyyim earn their first cap for Singapore while young talents like Shahrin Saberin and Syahiran Miswan have emerged during his stint.
