KL stun Pahang while Cops hold mighty JDT

Second-tier Kuala Lumpur defeated Malaysia Super League (MSL) side Pahang in the Malaysia Cup Group B while Singapore international Safuwan Baharudin rescued a point for PDRM against Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT).

Top flight side Pahang were handed a dose of reality after Malaysia Premier League (MPL) side Kuala Lumpur ran out 2-0 winners in their Malaysia Cup Group B encounter at the Selayang Stadium on Tuesday.

The Elephants, who are also in the MSL relegation battle, only turned up in the final third, by which time the City Boys had already led 2-0 through Leonardo Moreira (10th minute) and Jonathan Zorilla (53rd).

Pahang are bottom of the group while KL drew level on three points with Selangor and Kelantan, albeit temporarily as the two powerhouses clash on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, MSL defending champions JDT were held again in Group C after allowing PDRM’s Safuwan Baharudin to cancel out K. Reuben’s own goal in stoppage time.

PDRM, who defeated Perak in the opening round last week, moved to the top of the group while Perak are in second following their convincing 4-1 win over PKNS in Ipoh.

JDT II were held to a scoreless night at Pasir Gudang Stadium by MSL’s Sarawak in Group A’s only match of the night. T-Team host Kedah in the group’s other tie on Wednesday.

In Group D, Negri Sembilan prevailed 3-2 over MPL title rivals Malacca despite going a goal and man down to draw level on three points with Malacca and Felda United, who host Terengganu next.
