MSL Transfer Update: JDT signs LaLiga player, teams prepare for final moves

Malaysia Super League defending champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) announced the signing of Natxo Insa from Levante on Tuesday but the Spaniard may actually play as a naturalised player, while the rest of the field are wrapping up business days before the window shuts.

IN: Curran Ferns (Negri Sembilan), Thiago Fernandes (free agent), Dino Djulbic (Perth Glory)

OUT: Gaston Cellerino, Mootaz Jounaidi, Ridzuan Abdunloh (Terengganu)

The Fighters have been actively giving trials to players over the past week and fielded several unfamiliar faces – without revealing their names – in a friendly with Malaysia Under-22 on Tuesday.

Coach B. Satiananthan later confirmed that 34-year-old Australian defender Djulbic was replacing Lebanese Jounaidi. The centre-back had left A-League side Perth Glory in May.

Felda are also on the lookout for a replacement for young Argentine striker Lucas Cano, who has failed to settle in thus far.

The club, however, denied they were signing former Pahang star Dickson Nwakaeme as the Nigerian is deemed “too expensive.”

IN: Mohamed Ghaddar (Kelantan), Natxo Insa (Levante)

OUT: Brian Ferreira

JDT now have five imports in the first team, although only four are allowed to be registered

The Southern Tigers have confirmed the signing of Natxo Insa from Spanish Segunda Division side Levante.

Even more surprising is that the club said the four imports at present – Gabriel Guerra, Mohamed Ghaddar, Marcos Antonio and Gonzalo Cabrera – were all staying while Hariss Harun was expected to return in 2018.

Insa, however, may be eligible for a Malaysian passport. His brother, Kiko, assumed a Malaysian identity at the start of the year and plays for East Coast giants Pahang. JDT have yet to make any further statement on the status of their new signing.
