New child-sized Singapore football stadium aiming to help the sport's development

Kidzania Singapore have officially opened a child-sized football stadium within its indoor city in a partnership with insurance group AIA.

Kidzania Singapore is one of only five cities in the world to have such a facility and AIA hopes it will help encourage the public to have a healthier lifestyle as well as encourage the development of football.

We hope that if the kids are motivated to get healthy, the adults would as well

“We believe in helping citizens of Singapore in the community today to live healthier and better lives,” AIA Singapore chief executive Patrick Teow said at the official opening.

“With kids it’s a very good start to this journey (as) when the kids come, parents come too.

“So we hope that if the kids are motivated to get healthy, the adults would as well.”

This, Teow added, is in line with AIA’s commitment to developing football within Asia.

“One of our commitments is to make sure there's a lot of football development in Asia, that's why we are a partner of Tottenham Hotspur,” he said.

The opening was also graced by Tottenham ambassador Ledley King, who shared his pleasure at continuing to be involved with the club where he made his name.

“I loved every moment of my career at Tottenham, it was my home. I had such a great relationship with the fans, not just back in the UK but around the world,” the former England international said.

“So for me to be doing this job now as an ambassador, being able to travel and meet the fans who supported me from afar, is very exciting.”
