Pennant's parade rained off after 12 minutes

All eyes had been on Jermaine Pennant to star for Tampines Rovers against Warriors FC, but a torrential downpour forced the match to a premature end after 12 minutes with the scores still at 0-0.

His appearance was much awaited with supporters expecting plenty of fireworks, but the former Liverpool winger's first S.League start came to a premature end after just 12 minutes.
The false start on Friday evening at Jalan Besar Stadium was caused by a heavy downpour which led to the postponement of the keenly-anticipated match between Warriors and Pennant's Tampines, with a crowd including Singapore coach Bernd Stange turning up for the spectacle

Nevertheless, heavy rain had begun by the time the players were put through their paces in the warm-up drills, forcing referee Nathan Chan to halt play with the game tied at 0-0 after 12 minutes had gone given the ball could not be circulated properly

After a hour, took the decision to call off the game with the pitch badly waterlogged.

The match will now be played at a later date with the details of the fixture to be announced via the league's official website in due course.
