Ronaldinho joins forces with Tampines Rovers

Brazilian great Ronaldinho will be in Singapore next week to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with S.League giants Tampines Rovers to launch his own football academy in the country.

Five-time S.League champions Tampines Rovers and International Football Group made the announcement on Friday that they will help jointly establish the Ronaldinho Football Academy in Singapore.

A two-time FIFA world player of the year, Ronaldinho will jet in to Singapore on December 10 to sign the MOU, while he will also use the trip to launch a scooter he is endorsing.

He will line-up alongside his team of freestylers to demonstrate the product, a Ronaldinho-endorsed E-Scooter, at ION Orchard Shopping Mall before his tour continues in Xiamen, China the following day.

The 35-year-old’s impending visit to the Lion City will surely intrigue local fans, who last caught a glimpse of the Brazilian legend back in July 2008 when he featured in the Brazil Olympic team that demolished a Singapore Selection 3-0 at the old National Stadium.

The 2002 FIFA World Cup winner, who played at the highest level with Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and AC Milan, is now without a club after leaving Brazilian outfit Fluminense in September.

He has since been linked with a move to the A-League as a marquee player.
