Singapore defender Bennett knows little about Thailand

Singapore veteran defender Daniel Bennett admitted the current Thailand team is an enigma to him, as he was not involved with the national team since 2012.

The Geylang International stopper will have to face the War Elephants on Tuesday, as Singapore bid to reach the AFF Suzuki Cup semi-finals.

Despite his limited knowledge of the current Thai players, Bennett knows from experience and recent scouting that it would do well not to underestimate them.

“To be honest, I don’t know about this generation because I had nothing to do with the national team for almost four years and I have not played against this Thailand team,” Bennett said.

“But their recent match against Australia, they showed that they can compete with the top teams in Asia.

“I think the coach (Kiatisuk Senamuang) has done a fantastic job… so to play against them, it’s gonna be a very hard game because they have technique, they have quality, but they also have teamwork. It’s probably the most important.”
