Team LKT wins historic election to lead Singapore football
Lim's Team LKT won by 30 votes to 13, beating Team Game Changers, a slate led by Hougang United and Tiong Bahru chairman Bill Ng.
One vote of the 44 cast was deemed invalid.
The election was held at Singapore Sports Hub's Black Box Auditorium.
Lim has been part of the FAS since 1992, filling various roles until he became a vice-president in 2007.
"To say that we have mixed feelings about this victory is an understatement," he said. "Today was not a victory for Team LKT, today was a victory for Singapore football."
Lim said: "The real work starts now and my team and I promise we will work tirelessly to heal Singapore football and bring back the glory days."
According to Ng, he was unaware of where the money had ended up, but stated his belief it had been passed on to a body titled the ASEAN Football Federation’s (AFF) Football Management System.
That revelation was disputed by the FAS and the back-and-forth has included the regular trading of barbs, the denial of claims on both sides and even the threat of legal action.
This was then followed by a police raid last Thursday (20 April) on the FAS headquarters and the clubhouses of Tiong Bahru, Hougang United and Woodlands Wellington, three teams linked to Ng. Officers, understood to be from the Commercial Affairs Department (CAD), were seen wheeling away boxes of documents late into the night.
According to local media, Ng, his wife Bonnie Wong, Zainudin Nordin and FAS general secretary Winston Lee are currently out on bail.
