Tigers, axes and wine bottles: The best crests in North American soccer

Artistic masterpieces need to be celebrated. From lower leagues to first divisions, these crests catch the eye:

We are part of The Trust Project What is it?

15. The Villages SC

Let's cut to the chase, The Villages SC is a PDL team with a buffalo(?) on the crest and it's based in The Villages, Florida, a city that was created to be, for all intents and purposes, a very large retirement community.

14. Napa Valley 1839 FC

A crest with a wine bottle front and center? We're in.

13. Portland Timbers

The Timbers' crest has evolved in parallel with soccer in the United States, growing from something that tried too hard to explain itself into a masterpiece of simplicity. The axe is unmistakably Portland.

12. Tigres UANL

Fairly menacing (there is a tiger staring directly at you in this logo) but also with an artistic flair, Monterrey-based Tigres stalk their way into this list with the contrasting colors and those tiger eyes.

11. Detroit City FC

Detroit City FC's crest combines a muted red and yellow to showcase the true standout of the logo: the Spirit of Detroit.

10. L.A. Wolves FC

You may have heard of Wolves because of Eric Wynalda's stint as head coach in 2017. The club sports what looks like an ode to the Minnesota Timberwolves' logo of the late '90s and 2000s, plus it has Taco Bell as its shirt sponsor. Live mas.

9. C.D. Guadalajara

Guadalajara's badge brings together some old (the team's original color scheme was inspired by Belgium's Club Brugge) and some new (all of the titles Chivas has won). It's instantly recognizable.

8. Seattle Reign FC

The club boasts a great name (points for the pun) and a powerful, badass crest to match it. Good on you, Seattle.
