Arsenal will be looking to keep their League Cup dream alive days after suffering a shock FA Cup exit when they travel to Liverpool in the semi-final first leg on Thursday.
The Gunners were dumped out of the FA Cup by Nottingham Forest at the third round stage over the weekend.
It was only the second time since 1996 that they have exited the competition so early, the first time also coming against Forest.
Arsenal travel to Anfield after starting 2022 with back-to-back defeats, losing to Manchester City on league duty before their City Ground setback.
However, they performed well against the Premier League leaders and were unfortunate to lose, and Mikel Arteta’s side were on a five-match winning streak before then.
Liverpool had to come from behind to defeat League One Shrewsbury 4-1 at Anfield after a difficult week.
The club’s training ground was closed last week and this first leg clash had to be postponed due to a “severe outbreak of Covid” at the club.
But Jurgen Klopp has now returned to the sidelines after testing negative as he looks to gain the advantage ahead of next week’s second leg at the Emirates.
