New England Revolution signs USMNT goalkeeper Cody Cropper

One of the United States' bright, young goalkeepers is headed to MLS.

The New England Revolution announced on Thursday the acquisition of United States international goalkeeper Cody Cropper as a discovery signing.

Cropper, 23, spent the last four years in England in the Premier League and the Championship, most recently with MK Dons. He spent three seasons with Southampton in the Premier League.

He has 28 career youth international caps and likely would have been the United States' goalkeeper had the U-23 squad qualified for the Rio 2016 Olympics. Cropper has also previously received call-ups to U.S. senior-team camps.

“Cody is a player whose development we’ve been tracking the past few years,” said New England Revolution General Manager Michael Burns. “He’s a promising young goalkeeper and we’re excited to bring him to New England.”

Cropper's official signing is pending the receipt of his ITC.
