The margins are tight for Croatia and Ghana as the Group L rivals battle for supremacy in Philadelphia on Saturday evening at the World Cup 2026. Croatia guarantee progress with a win or draw, while the Black Stars have already qualified even in defeat.
But Carlos Queiroz and Zlatko Dalic will also have in mind that they can both be in a position to win the group if England lose.

This is the first senior international between two teams with World Cup knockout experience.
Croatia have been much further than Ghana, and much more recently, as the 2018 runners-up and 2022 bronze medalists, but there's less between these sides than recent history and the FIFA World Rankings would suggest.
Ghana started the World Cup ranked 73rd in the world but, with a draw, will get out of the group for the first time since they made it to the 2010 quarter-finals. Croatia have looked a fading force at times and Queiroz's team could take advantage.
Ghana's four points are already enough to take them through via the third-placed route, even in defeat. A loss for Croatia makes things tricky. A draw probably suits both.

Croatia vs Ghana: World Cup 2026 Preview
The nature of the final group stage fixtures means there's a relatively direct comparison to be drawn between the teams based on matches against the same pair of opponents.
In this case, both Croatia and Ghana beat an improved Panama side by a single goal. Ghana's additional point came from a resolute draw with England.
Dalic's team were not that against the Three Lions, and the 2018 runners-up were porous and easily overrun.
The Ghanaians had no such issues and a clean sheet in their second group game against England was a double whammy for Croatia.
Because of that result, Croatia are a point behind and know they need a win to finish in the top two. Also because of that result, Croatia know Ghana are perfectly capable of keeping them out.
Not so long ago, Croatia had the star players to force the issue in games like these. Some of them are still there in body but the difficulties they had against Panama might be a harbinger of misery in Philly.
Croatia vs Ghana: Group L
FourFourTwo's prediction
Croatia 0-0 Ghana
Ghana have found the defensive side of their game under Queiroz but the counter-attack, which looks dangerous, is yet to really draw blood.
