England face Ghana on Tuesday looking to make it two wins from two at the World Cup and confirm their place in the last 32.

Thomas Tuchel’s side go into the match with plenty of momentum after an impressive second-half performance in last week’s 4-2 win over Croatia.

A referee from the CONCACAF federation will take charge of England vs Ghana.

Honduran referee Said Martinez will officiate the Group L contest in what will be just his second World Cup match.

The 34-year-old previously refereed the 1-1 draw between Qatar and Switzerland.

There was some controversy in that match when Switzerland were awarded a penalty for a foul on Remo Freuler, who appeared to be in an offside position.

After a VAR check, though, the penalty stood and Breel Embolo converted it.

Martinez, who has been a FIFA-listed referee since 2017, brandished three yellow cards during Qatar vs Switzerland.

He became the Honduran top flight’s youngest-ever referee when he took charge of his first match at the age of 18, while studying maths at university.

Since then, Martinez has regularly refereed CONCACAF international matches, being rewarded with a place at the World Cup.

His assistant referees will be fellow Hondurans Walter Lopez and Christian Ramirez.

China’s Ning Ma is the fourth official, while Mexican Guillermo Pacheco is the VAR.
